What is a GFD Dual-Fuel System?
A GFD (Gaseous Fuel Delivery) Dual-Fuel System (a.k.a fumigation) uses a technology that mixes gases with the intake air, prior to the introduction of that air into the engine. This mixture is then introduced into each cylinder of the engine during the intake stroke. During the compression stroke of the piston, the pressure and temperature of the mixture are increased. Near the end of the compression stroke, a small quantity of pilot diesel fuel from the engines existing diesel fuel injection system is injected into the cylinder. The pilot diesel ignites due to compression and in turn ignites the mixture of gaseous-fuel and intake air.
Our proprietary* GFD Dual-Fuel System addresses the issue of lack of power due to gaseous-fuels containing less thermal energy than diesel fuel, allowing the engine to work under high load operation, which is often susceptible to premature detonation or knocking and low load operation, where higher gas substitution rates are possible.
